Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains what Verbaterm and its operators collect, why we collect it, how long it is kept, and the controls available to you. It is informational and does not replace the site-wide legal notice.
Last updated: July 12, 2026
1. Who this covers
This policy covers the Verbaterm website and related services operated by Verbaterm and its operators. It applies to visitors, signed-in accounts, private paste-text reviews, billing activity, and public policy library browsing or submissions.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. Authentication and profile details managed through Clerk when you sign up or sign in (such as email address and account identifiers).
- Private review content. Policy text you paste, optional review titles, policy-type selections, generated findings, citations, summaries, and finding feedback you submit.
- Usage and billing records. Monthly review allowances, review-credit balances, plan type, Stripe checkout and subscription events needed to provide paid capacity, and review cost or latency telemetry used to operate the service.
- Public library activity. Public policy page views do not require an account. Optional public policy URL submissions may include the submitted URL, optional notes, and, for signed-in users, an account association. Anonymous submissions may use privacy-preserving rate-limit identifiers rather than storing raw IP addresses for that feature alone.
- Local device storage. Browser local storage may hold legal-notice acceptance and temporary review draft text so the product can resume unfinished paste sessions and remember notice acknowledgment.
- Service operations data. Server logs, security signals, and admin audit records needed to run, secure, and support the product.
3. How we use information
- Authenticate accounts and enforce plan or usage limits.
- Run AI-assisted policy reviews through our analysis pipeline (currently via OpenRouter) and show citation-backed results.
- Process payments and manage review credits or subscriptions through Stripe.
- Operate the public policy library from official public sources after admin review.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, measure service cost and quality, and respond to support or report-an-issue requests.
Private review text is not used for product improvement unless you explicitly opt in to a future improvement program that says so. Private pasted text is not published to the public library.
4. Processors and service providers
Verbaterm uses service providers to operate the product. Depending on the feature you use, that can include:
- Clerk for authentication and account sessions.
- Stripe for checkout, subscriptions, and payment processing.
- OpenRouter (and the underlying model providers it routes to) for policy analysis when AI review is enabled.
- Hosting and database infrastructure that stores application data needed to run the service.
These providers process data on our behalf or as independent controllers for their own services, according to their agreements and documentation. Verbaterm does not currently integrate a separate third-party marketing analytics or advertising pixel package.
5. Public vs private content
Private paste-text reviews remain account-owned and unshareable by default. Public library pages only contain official public policy sources that an admin has approved for publication. Private pasted text, uploads, account-specific pages, unofficial mirrors, and uncertain-source documents are not published as public library pages.
6. Retention and deletion
Saved private reviews remain available in your account until you delete them. Deleting a review removes its stored text, generated review content, citations, and finding feedback together. Account and billing records needed for security, fraud prevention, tax, or legal obligations may be retained as required.
Dismissed or blocked public policy submissions may be purged after about 90 days; aggregated demand counters may be retained. Local draft text and legal-notice acceptance remain in your browser until cleared by you or by your browser settings.
7. Your choices
- Sign in at Account to review capacity, privacy boundaries, and links to manage saved reviews.
- Delete private reviews from History.
- Manage paid capacity from Plans and, when available, the Stripe customer portal.
- Clear local browser storage to remove temporary drafts or notice acceptance on that device.
8. Children
Verbaterm is not directed to children and is not intended for users under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Do not create an account or paste personal information for a child if you are below that age.
9. Changes
We may update this privacy policy as the product changes. Material updates will be reflected by the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy. The binding site-wide acknowledgment banner continues to point to the legal notice.
10. Contact
Privacy questions about Verbaterm should be directed to Verbaterm and its operators through the product’s existing support or report channels. Company counsel reporting a concern about a published public review should use the Report an issue form on that review page, as described in the legal notice.
